Copco Lake

Location: 42 miles northeast of Yreka on Ager-Beswick Road

Elevation: 2,507

Population: 120

History: Copco Lake was impounded when the California Oregon Power Company built the dam and power generating plant in 1917 across the Klamath River.

You travel past large cattle ranches as you approach the lake from the west, and in the past there was Beswick, a hotel and health hot springs resort  that was very popular in the early days of the 1900's

The area around the lake was subdivided into lake front acreage lots in the 1970’s.
